Brampton is a southern Ontarian city. It is a suburb in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and also the seat of the Peel Region. According to the Canadian 2016 population census, Brampton has a population of 593,638, this makes it the ninth most populated municipality in Canada, and also the third most populous in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region. It has a land area of 266.71 square kilometers and therefore a population density of 2,228.7 per square kilometers.
The city of Brampton was incorporated as a village in 1853, as a town in 1873, and as a city in 1974. Furthermore, the city is home to the headquarters of several companies including the Loblaw Companies Ltd. as well as several large employers such as Royers Communications Inc., Maple Lodge Farms, Coca-Cola Bottling Company Ltd., Chrysler Canada Brampton Assembly Plant, Olymel L.P. and so forth.
Furthermore, the city has several cultural entities under the umbrella of the Brampton Arts Council. The cultural entities are located in the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives which is manned by the Region of Peel. It is also home to the Rose Theater and also comprises six libraries with a ratio of one library per over 80,000 residents.
