Haiti Travel Insurance News

Global Affairs issued a warning to Canadians on Friday, February 15, 2019, to avoid all travels to Haiti due to the simmering civil unrest in the country. The capital city, Port-au-Prince, has been laden with violent protests since Thursday, February 7, as a result, some Canadians are trapped in the unrest.

In a statement, Global Affairs advised Canadians to leave by commercial means when available as the security situation could further deteriorate.

Due to the violent street protests, a group of tourists from Quebec are stuck in a hotel in Haiti and are not able to make it to the Port-au-Prince airport.

Air Transat said its flights between Montreal and Haiti are continuing but it could not provide safe ground transport from the resort to the airport.
