Travel Insurance Overview

greenland flag

Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark but unlike Denmark, it is no longer a part of the European Union. However, Canada and Denmark have been in a cold war for years over Hans Island off the Greenland coast.

Furthermore, the countries are closer than ever to settling the decade-old spat. Irrespective of the cold war, Canadians still travel to Greenland especially for tourism, business, and trade. Statistics show that Canadians are among the Non-Greenlandic visitors that visited Greenland in 2016 for tourism.

No matter your reasons for visiting Greenland, it is important to have the right Greenland travel insurance or private medical insurance to protect you against medical emergencies, accident, hospitalization or injury in the country.

Greenland Travel Insurance News

Newfoundland and Labrador is notable for its awesome coastlines, rugged scenery and plentiful wildlife but in 2017 it fell short of icebergs, its most important tourist attractions.

Robert Bartlett, owner and operator of Trinity Eco-Tours that specializes in whale watching and iceberg, said that he saw less than 10 icebergs since the province’s prime iceberg season began in May but in the previous years, he saw 40 and 50 at the same time.

Bartlett explained that the icebergs are there but they are way offshore. Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism website said that 90% of icebergs that show up in the province’s coast come from western Greenland after breaking off glaciers and slipping into the sea.
