The Longueuil police spotted a 28-year-old driver on Friday, December 14, 2018, breaking the law and attempted to stop him. In the incident that took place on Taschereau Blvd, the driver refused to stop but rather drove at high speed.

Unfortunately, he smashed into another vehicle carrying five passengers with his car carrying two passengers two kilometers down the road. According to the police, the driver was badly hurt and was taken to the police for treatment.

It is not known whether the passengers were hurt in the accident but the driver is in a critical state. As soon as the incident happened and the drivers were taken to the hospital, the Independent Office of Investigation of Quebec, the BEI, was notified. The investigators arrived at the scene at 10:15 am.

Furthermore, two crashes reconstruction experts analyzed the situation in order to uncover the exact factors that caused it. Meanwhile, the Sureté du Quebec also assisted in the investigation. The BEI is requesting anyone with information with respect to the accident to report or inform them at http://www.bei.gouv.qc.ca.
