Co-operators Life Insurance Company was founded in 1945 by farmers in Saskatchewan; its parent company is the Co-operators and its subsidiary is the CUMIS Group Limited. The Co-operators announced on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, that it has purchased Robert Poirier & Associes Robert Poirier & Associés, Courtier d'assurance inc. (Assurance Robert Poirier) based in Gatineau, Quebec. The purchase includes both the personal and commercial insurance policies of Assurance Robert Poirier. However, clients that have any existing insurance coverage can maintain it in effect for the current duration of their policies.

According to Rob Wesseling, the president and CEO of the Co-operators, the Co-operators has experienced steady growth in Quebec over the recent years and the purchase of Assurance Robert Poirier is a testament to this growth and an evidence that the company is committed to its expansion.
