Laval is a city of Quebec, located in the southwestern part of the province. It is the third largest municipality in the province and the thirteenth largest city in Canada with a population of 422,993, based on the 2016 population estimate. Laval is the largest suburb of Montreal and it is located towards the north of Montreal. The city forms its own administrative region in the province of Quebec. Laval’s population grew by 5.3% from 2011 to 2016 as shown by the population census. The city’s total land area is 247.23 square kilometers and hence it has a population density of 1,710.0 per square kilometers.
The city has a diverse economy which is centered around the industrial and retail sector, technology and pharmaceutical sector. It has oodles of pharmaceutical laboratories and its agricultural sector is blossoming. Furthermore, Laval has four industrial parks, namely: Industrial Park Center, Autoroute 25 Industrial Park, Industrial Park East, and the Laval Science and High Technology Park.
