Lethbridge is a Canadian city, located in the province of Alberta. It is the largest city in the southern part of the province and the fourth largest city in the province after Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. Furthermore, Lethbridge is the largest city in Alberta below the population of 100,000. By land area, it is the third-largest city after Calgary and Edmonton. The city has a windy climate, a warm summer, and a mild winter, thanks to the nearby Canadian Rockies.
Based on the 2016 Canadian population census, the city of Lethbridge has a population of 92,729 and a land area of 122.09 square kilometers, and hence a population density of 759.5 per square kilometers. Lethbridge has a metro population of 117,394, making it the 34th most populated metropolitan area in Canada. Furthermore, its metropolitan land area is 2,975.08 square kilometers and therefore its metropolitan population density is 39.5 per square kilometers.
The city of Lethbridge is a center for finances, industry, commerce, and distribution in southern Alberta (together with Medicine Hat). Its trading area population is 341,180 and includes a part of British Columbia and it provides jobs for about 86,000 people. Over the years, the city’s economy was primarily based on agriculture but it has diversified. Lethbridge provides amenities and services including transport services, rail services, and an airport.
