Niagara Falls is an Ontarian city located in the southern region of the province in the Golden Horseshoe region. It is located on the western bank of the Niagara Falls, New York. The Niagara Falls municipality was incorporated on June 12, 1903, and based on the 2016 Canadian population census, it has a population of 88,071, making it the 64th most populated municipality in Canada.
The city has a land area of 209.73 square kilometers and a population density of 419.9 per square kilometers. Moreover, its metropolitan area is ranked as the 12th most populated metropolitan area in Canada with a population of 390,317. Its metropolitan land area is 1,397.5 square kilometers and a metropolitan population density of 279.3 per square kilometers.
Due to its proximity to the Niagara waterfalls, the city has a lot of inexpensive source of hydroelectric power. The city’s economy boomed in the late 1990s due to the presence of numerous luxury hotels and tourist attractions in the city as well as casinos.
