Chow Chows Pet Insurance News

After his frisky husky impregnated the neighbor’s chow chow, a Quebec man was ordered to pay about $800 in court cost and veterinary fees.

The judgment which took place in September 2018 revealed that the Shawinigan-area husky broke into the fenced yard where the chow chow, Bella, lives.

“Thanks to husky’s handiwork, Bella found herself with an unexpected pregnancy”, Quebec court Judge Alain Trudel wrote. To terminate the pregnancy, the chow chow went through surgery.

Her owner said that the husky’s owner failed to control his dog. Besides seeking compensation for veterinary fees, Bella’s owner sought compensation for the damaged screen door.

Since the husky’s owner did not appear in court to present his own version of the story, the Judge had no option than to judge it in favor of Bella’s owner. Trudel awarded her $711.5 with interest and another $101 in court cost based on her testimony and that of a municipal employee.

According to Quebec’s Civil Code, an owner is liable for damages caused by his animal even if the animal is in the care of someone else or has escaped.
