In November 2018, a four-year-old Irish Setter, Fletcher, booked the biggest gig of his young acting career. He took the world’s largest stage – the Super Bowl – early February.

The Kingston, Ontario, dog caught the eye of a talent scout at one of his shows and got his big break. This came after years of competing in dog shows across Ontario and south of the border.

Mike Rimmer, Fletcher’s owner, said the talent scout took the pictures and his background to a production company and he got calls the following day saying they would like to have Fletcher in the commercial.

It was not just any commercial. It was Avocados from Mexico’s primetime spot during the year’s Super Bowl and it was expected to attract more than 300 million people.

The full commercial is not yet released. However, Rimmer said it revolves around dog owners who look similar to their pups and since Fletcher has an orange coat, the actress who played his owner has red hair. Actor Kristin Chenoweth also starred in the commercial as the dog show commentator.

Rimmer said that Fletcher has attained the top podium in several national and international competitions, so, he is used to the limelight.
