After strangers volunteered their time and skill to help her Irish Wolfhound, Wesley, Kathryn Power could not contain her joy and gratitude.

But the Irish Wolfhound’s front legs are badly damaged by arthritis and dysplasia and so he’s housebound.

Power went online to get advice about transportation for Wesley and she said she was amazed at the response she got. She said people from Ontario and even Australia are helping her to build a dog cart for the 185-pound Irish Wolfhound.

An offer to build the dog’s cart came from a Sudbury, Ontario, man Chad Kingsley. The man who owns a metal fabrication shop and does some welding said: “I need to help you, it is not sitting well with me that he can’t get outside. So, I’m going to build this for you”.

Another shop in Ontario offered to donate parts for the dog cart and an Australian woman offered to make original art to decorate the cart. Wesley said the cart is going to be Wesley’s cart called Wes-jet.

Tens of thousands of dollars had already been spent on Wesley’s medical care. Power said that about $80,000 has been spent on travel and surgeries to treat the dog’s deteriorating joints. Power has pet insurance and also did fundraising to cover some of the costs.
