Parson Russell Terriers Pet Insurance News

Unlike her other dogs, Tricia Stanczyk had a hard time training Jinx, a Parson Russell Terrier. She said that the other dogs are very eager to please. They want to do everything she asks them to do. But Jinx is different; she’s more on her terms and she wants to do whatever is her idea. Stanczyk said she kind of feel she’s the dog’s servant.

Thankfully, Stanczyk and Jinx’s hard work paid off as the 6-year-old dog won Best of Breed at 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Parson Russell Terrier class.

After Jinx brother, Taser, retired from the show ring, Stanczyk started showing Jinx in early 2018. But Jinx has been familiar with the show ring, she accompanied Stanczyk during Taser’s shows.

Stanczyk began to show dogs in 1995. She began with an English setter and eight years later, she switched to terriers. Unfortunately, her dogs have never won Best of Breed at the show but some of them have had ribbons but Jinx broke the record.

Stanczyk works at Jacobson Veterinary Clinic in Lincoln as the office manager, Jinx accompanies her owner to work on a daily basis. Stanczyk said the dog should be given the title of the “clinic greeter” or a “mascot”.

Jinx and her owner practice daily and Stanczyk spends over 8 hours in a week keeping the dog’s coat in show condition. Every month, the dog and her owner attend a few shows and this has helped them to transverse the country. Stanczyk said they learn more each time they attend shows.
