Pepe the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno is cute, sweet, little darling and gorgeous. Everyone he meets wants to adopt him, pet him, pat him, buy him or even steal him.

Podengos, commonly called Pods by proud owners, is a breed of rabbit-hunting dogs. In his native Portugal, ‘Pequeno’ means ‘Smallest’.

His owner Collin Dunne, who lives in West Sussex, said he got Pepe because he’s over 50 years and his life and career are winding down. Dunne testified that the Pod has truly changed his life.

“Every morning, at the sound of my feet, he comes hurtling towards me. He’s utterly overjoyed, and everything from his black button nose to his curling tail is wagging. And so begins another day of tumultuous excitement”, he said.

Although Podengo Pequenos are not a very popular dog breed, they are becoming increasingly popular. Nowadays, dog owners, especially in Great Britain, are importing more and more rare breeds like Pepe. There is a gradual shift from the so-called popular breed to the so-called ‘rare’ breeds.
