Learn about Siberian Huskies Pet Insurance

Siberian Huskies look similar to the Alaskan Malamute but they are smaller and have some distinctive characteristics. Huskies, as they are commonly known, are medium-sized working dogs that originated from Northeast Asia. Canines in this breed are loyal, mischievous and outgoing and they are also friendly, dignified and fastidious.

Together with Alaskan Malamute and Samoyed, Siberian Husky originated from the original sled dog. The breed’s erect ears, sickle-shaped tail, and well-furred coat suggest that it has a northern heritage. Its ancestors were bred by the Chukchi people in northeastern Asia where they served as companion dogs as well as endurance sled dogs. Huskies became publicly known around the 1900s when they started winning sled races.

Huskies are popular in the United States and Canada as sled dogs. Their effort in retrieving antitoxins to help in treating Alaskans stricken by a diphtheria epidemic in 1925 is also notable. Although Siberian Huskies have a lot of interesting qualities, they may also be prone to certain health problems as they grow old. This is why you need to take out Siberian Huskies pet insurance.

With the right Siberian Huskies pet insurance, you will be able to provide the best veterinarian care for your furry friend. The right pet insurance will assist you in taking care of your pet the way you want and not just according to your budget. This will go a long way in ensuring that the pet serves you better and lives longer.

Why Siberian Huskies Pet Insurance Is Important

Like any other dog breed, Huskies are prone to certain health problems. According to a 1999 ASPCA publication, the average lifespan of the Siberian Huskies is 12 to 14 years. Canines in the breed may face genetically related health issues as they grow old.

Some health issues common with the Huskies include defects of the eyes, seizures, corneal dystrophy, cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy, and so forth. Most of these conditions require thousands of dollars in veterinary treatment. Some of these conditions may require over $5,000 in veterinary treatment and with the simmering rise in veterinary costs, the amount may likely increase.

The easiest way to take good care of your furry friend is by providing it with the right pet insurance. With Siberian Huskies pet insurance, you will provide the best care for your pet. The right pet insurance should cover most medical conditions that may occur and you should make sure you understand everything related to the limits, exclusions, stipulations and waiting periods before taking out the insurance coverage.

Siberian Huskies Pet Insurance News

After spending his entire 11-year life in a puppy mill located in Southern Alberta, a Siberian Husky Maverick was rescued in October 2018.

Maverick was easily scared and in poor health condition. Just after a few weeks at his new home, he ran off. So, his new owner is seeking help to find him. Maverick’s new owner Wendy Innes said the dog had virtually no contact with people and so he is scared of them. Innes added that Maverick is probably the most fearful dog she has ever come across in her life.

When Innes was out with the dog in northwest Calgary, the clasp on the leash broke and the Maverick took off. Innes had to follow him around Hidden Valley and McEwans for hours until she lost sight of him. “He would go further and away from me every time I tried to get him to come back”, she added, “I have been looking for him since”.

Since then, Maverick has been spotted several times but there have been no leads recently. She said he might even be in rural Alberta at the moment. She also added that Maverick is not in the best of health. He needs to be taken to the vet and she already has an appointment to take him to the vet.
