Silky Terriers Pet Insurance News

A Cowichan breeder badly neglected dogs in his litter. These consists of 17 dogs which include 15 Silky Terriers and 2 German Shepherd dogs.

A picture of one of the Silky terrier shows that the dog is in a very bad condition. Silky Terriers are close cousins to Yorkshire Terriers. Both hail from Australia. It is believed that the former was bred from the later and several other dog breeds.

The dogs involved with the Cowichan breeder are believed to range from one to nine years old. As a result of their bad condition, the dogs have overgrown nails, badly matted fur, and to make the matter worst, they were soaked in feces and urine.

They were seized by BC SPCA. The BC SPCA chief prevention and enforcement officer Marcie Moriarty said the breeder signed a written agreement to not own or take possession of any new animals.

Moriarty said in a statement that it is good they interceded early but without regulation, so many such conditions could occur and go unnoticed while the animals suffer.
