After being involved in a car crash that claimed the life of her friend in Thailand, a Vancouver woman faced thousands of dollars in medical bills.

Nezabravka Borislavova and her friend Alexandra Lambert were driving on a highway near Phuket when heavy rain began to fall and their car hit a lamp post and spun off the road. The car rolled several times down a steep embankment; it was awfully wrecked, said Lambert’s father.

The two were embarking on an adventure to Bangkok which was suddenly cut short. Due to the injury, she sustained in the crash, Lambert died. Her parents took care of bringing her body back to Vancouver. Lambert’s father Douglas Lambert said it was their worst nightmare.

Borislavova suffered internal bleeding and broken bones. She required several operations but thankfully, she will be fine once she gets better. According to a crowdfunding page set up to help her cover her medical bills, Borislavova had no travel or medical insurance and she had limited resources through her family. The page raised $20,000 in two days but she required $50,000 to cover her bills and return home.
