  • Avoid non-essential travel to the towns of Jendouba, Remada, and Sidi Bouzid, and also Tunisia’s Greater South in all areas south of the Jebil National Park.

Amor Ftouhi, 53, a Montreal-Tunisian man told investigators that his mission was to kill and be killed. He was convicted on November 13 of terrorism and other crimes in the stabbing of a Michigan airport officer.

Ftouhi was convicted of three charges. He had a knife in his hand when he was caught. The Assistant U.S. Attorney Cathleen Corken told jurors that it was not a mystery, he was caught right there.

According to investigators, Ftouhi wanted to stab Neville, seize his gun and shoot people in the airport. He tried to purchase a gun when he entered the U.S. but could not and instead he bought a large knife. Witnesses said he yelled “Allah Akbar” during the attack. In a handwritten note to his wife found in his apartment, Ftouhi said that his actions were what a Muslim was born for.
