eLearning TCDSB
There is also an eLearning TCDSB option for students. Through resources and online courses provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education, students at TCDSB have a number of additional opportunities for succeeding. With eLearning, they can personalize the learning plan they have.
This learning plan will address the learning goals the students have.
One of the opportunities students will have is to get access to online courses that e-Learning Ontario manages and that are available through the provincial LMS, or Learning Management System.
Students will also have access to the Ontario Educational Resource Bank or OERB.
Through this eLearning TCDSB resource bank, students will be able to get multimedia interactive objects, maps, activities, and videos.
TCDSB eLearning also makes it possible for students to recover the course credits needed to graduate, access any course material that’s missing if they’ve been sick or away, and reduce any timetable conflicts.
Through TCDSB eLearning, students can also prepare for exams and tests, practise their new skills online, and use online technology and tools to enhance their comfort and knowledge.

TCDSB - Early Years & Child Care
The TCDSB offers services for early years & child care. Between birth until the age of 8, students can use these services. For Kindergarten registration, you can find the Community School Locator to find a Catholic school near you.
This registration must be completed online and you must present a passport or immigration documents (if your child isn’t Canadian), and your child’s birth certificate, and proof that you reside in Toronto.
You'll also need to provide your child’s Catholic Baptismal Certificate.
TCDSB also offers early learning resources, such as the Kindergarten Program, Childcare programs, Kindergarten Supporting Resources, Early Development Instrument, and Supporting Transition to School.
Additionally, they provide Special Services and a Community Link.
While remote learning is going on, Child Care is not available. However, before this began happening, Child Care was often available around 7:00 AM and after school usually until 6:00 PM.
This can provide parents with the flexibility they need.
Finally, there’s the EarlyON Child and Family Centres. These centres provide drop-in programs that are high quality and school-based. This is a learning environment that’s play-based and focuses on numeracy and literacy.
TCDSB - School Programs K-12
The TCDSB also has school programs for K-12 students. The goal is to create a community that’s made for learning and based on loving Christ. They encourage their students to grow in knowledge and grace, leading lives with charity, hope, and faith.
There are specific expectations that they want students to have once they have graduated.
The first is A Discerning Believer, which means the student is interested in using the Catholic Faith to guide them throughout their education and their life.
The second is An Effective Communicator, the third is A Reflective, Creative, and Holistic Thinker, and the fourth is A Self-Directed, Responsible, Lifelong Learner.
The fifth is A Collaborative Contributor, which means that the student is expected to find vocation, dignity, and meaning in work that contributes to the common good and respects everyone’s rights.
Additionally, students are expected to be a Caring Family Member. Finally, to graduate they must also be a Responsible Citizen.
Students will also be expected to reach academic excellence. This includes meeting or exceeding numeracy and literacy averages as dictated by the EQAO.
They will also have to exceed the average in the province in terms of graduate rate and credit accumulation. Teachers will support students in doing this and teachers will also be involved.
The environment itself will be equitable, healthy, and welcoming, as this will make it more likely that students will learn in an environment most suited for learning.
TCDSB - Adult Education Program
TCDSB has a program in adult education as well. These classes are available in fully online, in-person, and hybrid forms, as of September, though this might change depending on guidelines coming from Toronto Public Health which are pending. At the time this article was reviewed on September 13, 2021, the parameters remain the same.
Many courses are perfect for immigrants, as there are language courses in French and English for speakers who want to improve these languages or learn anew.
This program has 25 sites, with more than a thousand adults attending classes at them.
Types of classes available include Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS), French as a Second Language (FSL), English as a Second Language (ESL), and Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC).
Classes are available at schools, seniors’ units, community centres, libraries, and leased facilities.
The ESL Nursery and LINC Care for Newcomer Children are also available for children who are between 19 and 72 months old while their parents are attending classes at the site the program is in.
The mission of the Adult Education Program through the TCDSB is to facilitate the full participation and integration of adults learners of English in Canadian society.
TCDSB - Parent Portal
Another feature TCDSB has is the parent portal. There are many ways parents can get involved through this portal with the lives of their children who are studying at a Toronto Catholic school. One of the ways this can happen is through the Catholic School Parent Councils.
Through these councils, the school community will be empowered to use resources to support student learning.
There’s also the Catholic Parent Involvement Committee, which is a committee that is funded and mandated by the province.
This committee is dedicated to providing academic achievement support to students with parent involvement that is increased.
On the parent portal, you can also access the Parent and Student Charter of Principles, information about the Ontario Association for Parents in Catholic Education - Toronto, and Admissions and Registration Information.
Additional information that can be accessed includes Anonymous Alerts, information about the Dress Code, news, parent-teacher interviews, and the Provincial Report Card.
You can also access sections such as Publications and Information, Conflict Resolution Resources, School Cash Online, and Whistle Blower.
Generally speaking, you’ll get all the information you need to understand the experience of a student if they’re your child, as well as the resources you may need.
TCDSB - Community
Community is a large part of TCDSB. They are committed to providing many services to the communities that surround their schools. On the weekends and after school, many educational sites are used by community organizations.
Parenting and Family Resource Centres, as well as Child care programs, operate within TCDSB schools, welcoming families from many parts of the city.
The Board also has community members volunteer at their schools, who support the services and programs there.
TCDSB also has the Angel Foundation for learning and information on Community Use of Schools and Community Relations.
